5 Labor Day Recipes To Kick-Off Your Cookout

Labor day will be here before we know it!

If summer must come to an end, we might as well say farewell with delicious food. After all, is there a better way to end a season than cracking open a cold one, throwing a few things on the grill, and soaking in the last few days of heat? If you need some inspiration on what to make on Labor Day, the chefs at Savory Catering have come up with five of their favorite recipes for a perfect end-of-summer celebration.

GRILLED SAUSAGES

There’s nothing more American than beautiful grill marks on a set of juicy links. Set up a build-your-own sausage bar complete with buns and everyone’s favorite toppings. This platter is sure to earn you “host of the year.”

MARINATED KEBABS

When you want to steer away from the traditional burgers and hot dogs we’ve become accustomed to on Labor Day, consider quick and easy chicken kebabs. Marinate in a rich savory sauce and skewer your favorite veggies for a no-fuss cookout everyone will love.

CORN WITH BASIL BUTTER

Is it really Labor Day without corn on the cob? Mix things up this year with basil butter cobbetts. Start by cutting your corn into 3-4 inch sections and baste with herb-infused butter and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Adorable and delicious!

GRILLED SUMMER SQUASH

Labor Day is the perfect time to experiment with summer-y side dishes. Summer squash will be a welcome addition to a table full of grilled meat and heavier dishes. Sprinkle with lemon and scallions for a delicious side that even the pickiest eaters will love.

S’MORE PLEASE!

My kids would never let me think about hosting a Labor Day get together without this fundamental summer dessert. Surprise your family this year with three new varieties - Strawberry S’mores between Chocolate Chip Cookies, Double Chocolate S’mores between Brownie Cookies, and Classic Peanut Butter Banana S’mores. Yes, please!
